Runaway Diabetes, for me, for my health and for my children(English/Spanish)

Article in English:  I’m Alex, I’m 48 years old and I’m 5’8. I am the father of three beautiful children: Isabella (17), Augusto (15) and Alejandro (13) and I am married to an amazing and wonderful woman, Iris. My passion is running and running! I always keep in mind to live a healthy life and stay away from those lifestyles that end up making our body and soul sick.  “Runaway Diabetes, for me, for my health and for my children.” I committed to transform myself during the pandemic, but this time with a specific goal and a deadline. I signed up for a virtual body transformation challenge from a bodybuilding circle. With the conviction that my effort would inspire my children to have a good nutrition, health and mental challenge. I always tell them: “nothing is impossible” especially in our family that has type 1 diabetes, attention deficit disorder, breast cancer survivor and psioriasis.  I knew it wasn’t going to be easy, and I would probably hurt myself in the process, but to see a real and radical transformation I committed to training like no one else. As my MLB friend Carlos Beltran once told me, “Alex, my training day ends when I know that no one in the world worked out harder than me, better than me” And that’s what I did!  I hired… Read More »Runaway Diabetes, for me, for my health and for my children(English/Spanish)

Alex Gierbolini: How to Get the Most Out of Your Body Building Workouts

Body building can be a challenging and rewarding activity that requires dedication, discipline, and hard work says Alex Gierbolini. Whether you are a new or experienced body builder, there are certain tips and strategies that you can follow to get the most out of your workouts. In this guide, we will explore some of these tips and strategies for optimizing your body building workouts. 1. Focus on compound exercises. Compound exercises involve multiple muscle groups at once, which mean that they burn more calories and produce greater results over time than isolated movements. Some great examples of compound exercises include squats, deadlights, lunges, bench presses, pull-ups, rows, shoulder presses, and dips. 2. Emphasize heavy weightlifting with low repetitions. While lifting lighter weights for more repetitions can help you build endurance, it will not lead to the same level of muscle growth as heavier lifting with fewer repetitions. When you are trying to build muscle, you should focus on lifting weights that are challenging for you to lift, even if that means doing fewer reps. 3. Give your muscles time to recover. After a strenuous workout, your muscles need time to repair and rebuild themselves. This process is known as muscle recovery, and it is essential for making gains in size and strength. To allow your muscles adequate time to recover, you should wait at least… Read More »Alex Gierbolini: How to Get the Most Out of Your Body Building Workouts

Alex Gierbolini- How to create a workout routine

There are a few things to consider when creating a workout routine. First, what is your fitness goal? Are you trying to lose weight, build muscle, or just improve your overall fitness level? Second, what type of exercise do you enjoy? If you don’t enjoy the exercises you’re doing, it’s very unlikely that you’ll stick with them long-term says Alex Gierbolini. Third, how much time can you realistically commit to working out? It’s important to be realistic when setting your expectations for how often you’ll be able to work out. Finally, what equipment do you have access to? If you don’t have any equipment, there are still plenty of exercises you can do using just your bodyweight. Now that you’ve considered these factors, you can start putting together your workout routine. If you’re trying to lose weight, focus on combining cardio and strength training exercises. You’ll burn more calories and build muscle at the same time. Some good examples include running, biking, or swimming combined with bodyweight exercises like lunges and squats. If your goal is to build muscle, consider incorporating heavier weights into your routine. Lift a few days per week for about an hour each session. Consider doing compound movements like bench presses, pull-ups, deadlights, and rows that work multiple muscles groups at once. Pair these with lighter weights or higher reps to… Read More »Alex Gierbolini- How to create a workout routine

Alex Gierbolini explains How to cool down after a workout

When you finish working out, it is important to take some time to cool down and allow your body to relax and recover says Alex Gierbolini. This can be done in a variety of ways, depending on your preferences and the activities that you have been doing during your workout. Some simple strategies for cooling down after a workout might include taking a short walk or light jog, stretching, drinking plenty of fluids, or soaking in a warm bath. Whatever method you choose, be sure to listen to your body and pay attention to any signs of fatigue or discomfort. If you experience dizziness, chest pain, or other worrisome symptoms while cooling down after exercise, seek medical attention right away. By following these tips and paying close attention to your body’s needs, you can help ensure a successful and enjoyable workout. 1. Take a short walk or light jog: This is an ideal way to gradually slow down your heart rate and give your body a chance to cool down after a vigorous workout. Walking or jogging also helps to flush out lactic acid build-up in your muscles, which can help to reduce muscle soreness. 2. Stretch: Stretching helps to lengthen and relax your muscles, which can aid in recovery after exercise. It is important to focus on stretching all of the major muscle groups… Read More »Alex Gierbolini explains How to cool down after a workout

Alex Gierbolini explains How to Build Muscle and Lose Fat at the Same Time

It is possible to build muscle and lose fat at the same time, although it may not be as easy as some people claim says Alex Gierbolini. There are 10 things you need to do in order to make it happen. 1. Eat Enough Protein Protein is the most important macronutrient when it comes to building muscle. It’s essential for repairing and growing damaged muscles, and it helps promote satiety so that you’re not overeating calories. Aim to consume 0.7-1 grams of protein per pound of body weight each day. 2. Lift Heavy Weights If you want to gain muscle, you have to lift heavy weights. This puts your muscles under tension and forces them to grow. Aim for lifting weights that are 70-80% of your one-rep max. 3. Eat More Calories than You Burn In order to lose fat, you need to be in a calorie deficit, which means you’re eating fewer calories than you’re burning each day says Alex Gierbolini. But when you’re trying to build muscle and lose fat at the same time, you need to be in a slight calorie surplus. This means you’re eating slightly more calories than you’re burning each day. 4. Prioritize Compound Exercises Compound exercises are exercises that work multiple muscle groups at the same time. These are the best exercises for building muscle because they allow… Read More »Alex Gierbolini explains How to Build Muscle and Lose Fat at the Same Time

Alex Gierbolini on Cardio vs. strength training: which is better for you?

There are many benefits to both cardio and strength training, but which one is better for you? It depends on your goals. If you’re trying to lose weight, cardio is a better choice. Cardio burns more calories than strength training, so it’s more efficient at helping you lose weight says Alex Gierbolini. If you’re trying to build muscle, strength training is a better choice. Strength training builds muscle, and muscle burns more calories than fat. So even though you might not burn as many calories during a strength-training workout, you’ll continue to burn more calories throughout the day because of your increased muscle mass. Ultimately, the best exercise for you is the one that you enjoy the most and will stick with in the long run. But if you’re trying to decide between cardio and strength training, consider your goals and choose the one that’s best for you. If you’re trying to lose weight, cardio is a better choice because it burns more calories than strength training. Cardio workouts are also generally shorter than strength-training workouts, so they may be easier to fit into your schedule. If you’re trying to build muscle, strength training is a better choice because it builds muscle mass. Muscle tissue burns more calories than fat tissue, even when you’re at rest. So even though you might not burn as many… Read More »Alex Gierbolini on Cardio vs. strength training: which is better for you?
